What is OldTown Festival?
OldTown Festival is a post-apocalyptic science-fiction themed event of alternative culture. Its main focus is a huge field game (larp), accompanied by a variety of performances, concerts, workshops of arts, crafts and acting. The storyline, in-game items, vast space and the performances can all be yours, you just need to buy a ticket. Then you will become a part of OldTown, and OldTown, as an extraordinary experience, will become a part of you.
OldTown prides itself in hosting the biggest post-apocalyptic larp in Europe, which lasts continuously for 72 hours. Hundreds of people create remarkable settlements, wear self-made outfits, build unique camps and drive custom made cars built specially for this occasion, all around the grounds of an abandoned airfield.

My first OldTown was exactly what I expected: perfect amount of fun and partying “till the sun comes up”. The best place to forget about the dull day-to-day life, lean out of a window of a speeding car with a beer in one hand and a gun in the other, and to feel how it must have been on the set of Mad Max! A crazy event, strong 10/12.
Frank Zappa once said that writing about music is just like dancing about architecture. This quote expresses my exact feelings about OldTown. They could tell you about dust, an epic larp, the scorching sun and legendary parties, they can try to convince you that it’s is the best event of the year, with unique atmosphere, that the nights are short and the women are hot… And though they would be right, you won’t understand it until you feel and see it for yourself. It was like this with me and today I know I’d chop my arm off just to go there. True story - I recommend it.

What did I take home with me after OldTown? Dust, bruises, suntan darker than after the holidays in Bulgaria… but most importantly some of the best memories in my life. I experienced OldTown, so I can handle anything! And certainly the next editions...
I wasn’t sure about this whole OldTown thing when I first decided to go. “But I know almost nothing about post-apo…”. As green as we were, after first two hours we got an invitation to join a great faction and a place to camp. We met wonderful people to talk to over a beer or two. A few days later I was knew that OldTown is the best event of the whole summer. Never before I had so much fun. I danced on the bar made of pallets, ran through forest with a gun hunting mutants that posed a threat to the city, all while really not caring about the state of my hair. OldTown, I’ll be back.
OldTown is a place where you can go wild beyond your imagination. Stare at the raging testosteron. But most of all you can talk with intelligent people you share a passion with. The moment when dirt becomes your friend, you suddenly find that the urge to bite your nails is gone. Seriously, this works.
My first OldTown in 2014 was without doubt an uncommon event for me. I went as so-called “freelancer”, I knew almost no one there. Soon it turned out that these few days spent in a rough conditions were something I needed. The opportunity to meet new people, role-play a character and have a breather from everyday rush is something that makes me want to come back.
Five years ago I decided that one day I will visit OldTown. The only thing I regret is it wasn’t sooner than the last year. It was hot like hell, you had to put on a gas mask to visit a toilet, but if you have never been to OldTown, you know nothing about a truly memorable fun. The week spent in Kluczewo was really an unforgettable experience. Ok, maybe not all of it, as I have no recollection of Saturday, if you know what I mean... But the rest was off the hook. Anyway, 11/10, best event of my life. Woodstock can go and hide in shame.
I have been attending OldTown for four years now, though I had never really liked post-apo before. I was convinced to go for the first time by some friends of mine who I knew were all about fun with a blast. OldTown is a very peculiar place, but a one you leave with unique memories and friends. I recommend OldTown to anyone who appreciates great people and the atmosphere more than a clean toilet.
If I had to choose - a girlfriend or OldTown? I would choose OldTown every time, with no regrets.
OldTown enraptured me with the immensity of possibilities and this uncomparable feeling of freedom… Do you dream of a world without a boring job, long hours at the university, queues at a supermarket, traffic jams, calls from people you don’t like and those family gatherings you are supposed to attend? OldTown will let you experience the unique and decadent world that has already ended, but the music is still on and the local bar is never empty.
OldTown is a truly unique event. Sounds trivial? Yes, but I bet that speaking about OldTown you will never use this word. It’s because everything that’s part of OldTown - the people, the setting, the wasteland atmosphere - are not of the trivial kind. I won’t try to dissect the phenomenon of OldTown. Sometimes there are things that are easy to love, but hard to explain to others. Can you explain how beer tastes like to someone who has never had a drink before? Or the taste of a cake to someone who has never tried one? Hard, isn’t it? That is my point. So listen up. OldTown is a beer flavored cake. I can’t promise it will be good for you, but you will love it! Come visit, try it out and come back next year. It’s simple.
